Lady Antebellum will show off their lighter side on this spring’s “Golden.”
“It’s been one we’ve been working on for a long time, and trying to get a couple more uptempo, fun songs on this project,” the band’s Dave Haywood told Billboard at the ACM Awards.
He called the success of sassy lead single “Downtown” a “good omen.” The track, accompanied by a video that pokes fun at singer Hillary Scott’s “goody two-shoes” nightlife, has over 1.7 million YouTube plays.
“It’s not a fluffy album but it’s also not near as dramatic and ballad-heavy as albums we’ve had in the past,” Scott said of “Golden.” “We want it to be like a road trip.”
“Golden” is due May 7.
