Following the 2012 release of Charlotte Sometimes’ “Circus Head,” the 26-year-old pop singer-songwriter will return with “By Request,” an acoustic EP that was recorded live in one day at Cutting Room Studios in New York. Ahead of the EP’s Mar. 4 release date, check out Sometimes’ new take on her 2008 song “Losing Sleep,” premiering exclusively on Billboard:
“Losing Sleep,” which appeared on the singer’s debut album “Waves and the Both of Us,” made the “By Request” track list after Sometimes kicked off a social media campaign to let fans select the songs for the acoustic release. The four-song EP from “The Voice” season two finalist also includes a new track, “Magic,” as well as a cover of Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks.”

“‘Losing Sleep’ is a song I wrote in my dorm room in New York City,” says Sometimes. “It’s a song that still resonates with me today. It’s about the pressure to be perfect and the battles you fight with yourself. Coley O’Toole [of We The Kings] sang with me on it, which is always fun. He was my keys player for years and I am lucky to work with him.”
