Since Lorde’s “Royals” began captivating United States listeners and eventually seized control of the Hot 100 chart, several high-profile artists have honored the track with a cover version (and we do mean several — we even made a poll for the best cover!). Add to that list the name Coco Jones, the 15-year-old actress/singer best known as the star of the Disney Channel film “Let It Shine.”
After releasing her Hollywood Records debut EP, “Made Of,” earlier this year and supporting artists like Austin Mahone and Mindless Behavior on tour, Jones has nodded toward another teen female star with her cover of Lorde’s hit. Watch Jones’ take on “Royals,” premiering exclusively on Billboard.com:
“I think ‘Royals’ is a heartfelt song with relatable lyrics,” says Jones. “I chose to cover this song in support of Lorde… We’re both young, but working hard and chasing our dreams.”
Jones will continue making cameos on the Disney Channel hit “Good Luck Charlie” while working on new music. Watch the video for Jones’ “Holla at the DJ,” which has amassed 2.9 million YouTube views, below:
