Black Sabbath Soaring to First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart

Iconic rock band Black Sabbath is heading for its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry sources suggest the group’s new “13,” released on Tuesday (June 11), may sell over 120,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, June 16.

The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, June 19.

Sabbath’s projected sales figure should easily be enough to trump the rest of the week’s new albums, along with fighting off any challenges from holdover titles — like Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories.”

Black Sabbath’s “13” is the band’s first studio album with singer Ozzy Osbourne since 1978’s “Never Say Die!” The band has notched just one top 10 album so far, 1971’s “Master of Reality,” which reached No. 8.

Osbourne’s last solo album, 2010’s “Scream,” debuted and peaked at No. 4 off an 81,000 start, according to Nielsen SoundScan. His last new album with Sabbath, the live set “Reunion,” was released in 1998 and debuted and peaked at No. 11 (62,000 first week).

Other albums aiming for significant debuts on next week’s Billboard 200 include Big Time Rush’s “24/Seven” (around 40,000) and the “Man of Steel” soundtrack (30,000).
