Darren Criss of “Glee” has announced his first tour, which kicks off May 29 in San Francisco.
The 16-city LISTEN UP tour will visit both the United States and Canada, and preview new material from his forthcoming debut album, which will reportedly be released on Columbia Records. The actor/singer’s first full-length effort, which does not have an announced release date, follows his 2009 EP “Human.” That self-released set reached No. 17 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart and has sold 27,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Criss said in a statement: “I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the summer than being on the road and doing live shows. I wanted to do something bigger than what I’ve done before — more cities and new music. It’s a real opportunity for me to connect with all the people who’ve supported me through the years, as well as a chance to get new folks excited. It’s gonna be a party for everyone!”
Singer/songwriter Theo Katzman will open for Criss on select dates of the tour. The schedule includes a free show in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he attended the University of Michigan, on June 13.
Fan pre-sale tickets for the tour go on sale April 25 at 10:00 AM at Facebook.com/DarrenCriss, with general tickets on sale April 27 at 10:00 AM.
